National Insurance Institute Advances September Payments Ahead of Holidays
Israel's National Insurance Institute is advancing several benefit payments in September due to the upcoming Jewish High Holidays. Unemployment and income support benefits, originally scheduled for later in the month, were paid on Monday, September 8, 2026, ahead of Rosh Hashanah. Additionally, long-term benefits, including those for the elderly, survivors, work injury victims, alimony, disability, mobility, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion, will be paid on September 22, 2026, before the Sukkot holiday.
The deadline for self-employed individuals and employers to report and pay insurance contributions is September 15. Child benefits are expected to be deposited on September 20, the eve of Yom Kippur.
These payment shifts come as average benefit amounts have increased by up to 2.64% since the beginning of 2026, attributed to rising consumer prices. The average payment across all benefit types now stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
