National Insurance Advances Payouts for September Benefits Due to Holidays
Israel's National Insurance Institute is advancing the payment dates for several key benefits in September due to the upcoming Jewish High Holidays. Recipients of unemployment benefits and income support will receive their payments on September 8, 2026, five days earlier than usual. Additionally, long-term benefit payments, including those for the elderly, survivors, work injury victims, alimony, disability, mobility, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion, will be disbursed on September 22, 2026, ahead of the Sukkot holiday.
The institute is also reminding self-employed individuals and employers that their insurance contribution reporting and payment deadline is September 15. Child benefit payments are scheduled for September 20, the eve of Yom Kippur.
These adjustments are being made to accommodate the holiday schedule. The National Insurance Institute noted that average benefit payments have increased by up to 2.64% since the beginning of 2026, attributed to the rise in the consumer price index. The current average payment across all benefit types stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
