Israel's National Insurance Institute Advances Benefit Payments Due to Holidays

Israel's National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) is adjusting its payment schedule for September to accommodate upcoming Jewish holidays, resulting in earlier disbursements for many recipients. Millions of beneficiaries will receive their payments under a modified timeline. Specifically, unemployment and subsistence allowance payments for September will be advanced to September 8, 2026, due to Rosh Hashanah. Long-term care benefits, including those for survivors, work accident victims, alimony, disability, mobility, caregiving, and prisoners of Zion, will also be paid earlier, on September 22, 2026, in observance of Sukkot. The deadline for self-employed individuals and employers to submit reports and pay insurance contributions has been set for September 15. Child allowances are scheduled to be deposited on September 20, preceding Yom Kippur. Throughout 2026, benefit amounts have seen increases, with average payments rising by up to 2.64% due to the consumer price index. The current average benefit payment across all categories stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
