Retired IDF Major Joins Shas Party

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Dror Amos, who served in the Israel Defense Forces for over 25 years and currently chairs the Religious Council in Haifa, has joined the Shas party. Amos, who served in the Logistics Corps in various command and management roles, also founded the "Chessed Chaim Ve'emet" (Kindness, Life, and Truth) organization, which supports bereaved families. He has been the chairman of the Haifa Religious Council for the past year and a half, working to improve religious services in the city.

Upon joining Shas, Amos expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I am happy and proud to join Shas under the leadership of the movement's chairman, Rabbi Aryeh Deri. It is one big family that embraces both the Torah scholar and the soldier." He added that he would work to connect different segments of the people with responsibility, mutual guarantee, and respect for tradition and the state, guided by the teachings of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri welcomed Amos, calling his extensive experience in the IDF, public service, and religious affairs an "important addition to our excellent team." Deri further emphasized that Shas is the home for all of Israel, including Torah scholars and soldiers, tradition, and mutual guarantee, and that Amos embodies these values.
