Shas Party Finalizes Knesset List with Incumbents and Newcomers

The story · English

The Council of Torah Sages of the Shas party approved the party's slate for the 26th Knesset on Monday. The decision, made during a special meeting in Jerusalem, confirmed that all current Knesset members will retain their positions for the upcoming election.

Two new candidates will join the list: Lt. Col. (res.) Dror Amos, chairman of the Religious Council in Haifa and a reserve IDF officer, and Yosef Elnatonov, a representative of the Bukharan community. Amos's inclusion reportedly fills a slot designated for a military figure, while Elnatonov will represent the Bukharan community within the party.

The meeting was attended by all members of the Council of Sages, with the exception of Rabbi Yishayahu Yosef Hadari, who was absent. Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri also participated in the discussions.

The full list, which includes incumbent MKs Yנון Azulai, Michael Malchieli, Yoav Ben-Tzur, Haim Biton, Moshe Abutbul, Uriel Busso, Yosef Tayeb, Yonatan Mashriki, and Erez Malul, along with new additions Amos and Elnatonov, and Simon Moshiashvili, will be submitted to the Central Elections Committee on Tuesday afternoon. The submission marks the completion of Shas's formal preparations for the upcoming elections.
