Shas Party Reveals Knesset List with Reserve Colonel in Sixth Position

The Council of Torah Sages has approved the Shas party's list for the 26th Knesset, notably placing reserve Lieutenant Colonel Dror Amos in the sixth position. This move is part of Shas leader Aryeh Deri's strategy to broaden the party's appeal among religious-traditional voters and those serving in the military, including reservists.

Amos, who served in the IDF for approximately 25 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, is the most significant addition to the new list. During his career, he founded the "Chesed Chaim V'Emet" organization, which assists bereaved families with halachic matters. Following the October 7th attacks, he established the "Kaddish for Every Martyr" initiative, connecting volunteers with families of victims to recite Kaddish in their memory.

The sixth position is considered a realistic spot on the list, signaling the importance Shas places on Amos's inclusion. His placement aims to imbue the party's list with a religious figure who also possesses decades of IDF service, enhancing its appeal to a wider demographic.
