Shas Party Finalizes Knesset List with Top Leadership Retained
The Council of Torah Sages of the Shas movement has finalized the party's list of candidates for the 26th Knesset. Party Chairman Rabbi Aryeh Deri will continue to lead the list, which includes a mix of incumbent Knesset members and new candidates. The approved slate places incumbent MK Yinon Azulai in the second position and MK Michael Malchieli in third. Following them are Yoav Ben-Tzur at number four, Haim Biton at five, and Dror Amos at six. The list continues with Moshe Abutbul seventh, Uriel Buso eighth, Yosef Tayeb ninth, and Yonatan Mashriki tenth. Other candidates include Yosef Elnatonov (11th), Erez Malul (12th), and Simon Moshiashvili (13th).
The Council of Torah Sages convened earlier in the week at the Shas headquarters in Jerusalem to discuss and formulate the list. Several new potential candidates were presented for consideration. The final composition was then submitted to the Council for their decision. The movement stated that incumbent MKs who served with dedication will continue their public service, joined by new forces aiming to strengthen Jewish identity and serve Shas voters.
Shas is expected to submit its full candidate list to the Central Elections Committee later today.
