Singer Pink Criticizes Macklemore's Anti-Israel Remarks at Ed Sheeran Concert

International singer Pink, who is Jewish-American, has publicly criticized rapper Macklemore for his anti-Israel statements made during a concert by Ed Sheeran in New Jersey. Pink shared a post from the organization StopAntisemitism, which condemned Macklemore's actions during the show.

Macklemore, who was a supporting act for Sheeran, wore a keffiyeh and called for "Free Palestine" in front of tens of thousands of attendees. He also performed his protest song "Hind's Hall," which accuses Israel of genocide and apartheid, with visuals of Gaza and pro-Palestinian protests displayed on screens behind him. The song, released in 2024, protests Zionism and claims the Nakba never ended.

StopAntisemitism criticized the event, stating that Jewish fans bought tickets to see Ed Sheeran, not to be exposed to "anti-Israel propaganda." The organization argued that Macklemore's political display turned a major event into a "political nightmare against the Jewish state" and demanded apologies and refunds from Ed Sheeran.

Macklemore's speech also included messages of solidarity with people in Gaza and the West Bank, referencing security and peace amidst bombings. He concluded his remarks with a call for the liberation of Palestine and other global conflict zones.

Ed Sheeran has not yet publicly responded to the controversy. Macklemore was scheduled to be a supporting act for Sheeran at several other upcoming shows in the United States.
