Pop Star P!nk Defends Jewish Fans After Macklemore's Controversial Concert Performance

Singer P!nk has publicly supported Jewish fans of Ed Sheeran following a controversial performance by rapper Macklemore. P!nk shared a video on Instagram criticizing Macklemore, reaching her 12 million followers, according to Israel Hayom. The incident occurred at MetLife Stadium where Macklemore performed as an opening act for Sheeran. He used the stage for a political demonstration, displaying Palestinian flags, showing footage from Gaza, and performing a protest song titled "Hind's Hall." Macklemore also stated, "Every person who walks this earth deserves equal freedom," and specifically addressed Gazans, assuring them they were not forgotten.

Many attendees found the political display unacceptable, with thousands reportedly leaving the stadium in protest. Macklemore faced accusations of antisemitism. P!nk's post amplified criticism, highlighting that Jewish attendees bought tickets for Sheeran's concert, not to encounter "anti-Israel propaganda." The criticism also targeted Macklemore's attire and statements, including wearing a keffiyeh, calling for "Free Palestine," and accusing Israel of "genocide."

P!nk's shared message asserted that the political act transformed a concert into a "political nightmare against the Jewish state." The authors of the message demanded an apology from Sheeran and full refunds for attendees. Concurrently, the Israeli-American Council (IAC) initiated a petition demanding Macklemore's removal from the remainder of the tour, arguing he exploited Sheeran's stage for his own political agenda. The IAC petition, gaining traction online, emphasizes that the event was "Ed Sheeran's concert, not a political rally or protest."
