Likud Party Allocates Election List Spot to Mother of Fallen October 7th Hero
The Likud party has announced it will reserve a place on its electoral list for Talik Gvili, the mother of Rani Gvili. Rani Gvili, a member of a special Israeli police unit, fell in combat on October 7, 2023. Despite being wounded, he left his home on the morning of the attack to join the fighting. The party stated that he saved several lives before being killed and his body taken to the Gaza Strip. His remains were eventually repatriated to Israel during Operation "Courageous Heart."
In its statement, Likud praised the resilience shown by Talik Gvili and her family throughout their ordeal. The party highlighted her commitment to sharing her son's story, his bravery, and his Zionist values. Talik Gvili, who lit a torch at the national Independence Day ceremony, is described by Likud as a "symbol of strength, dedication, and commitment to the State of Israel."
