Likud Party Adds Hostage Families Advocate Talik Golel to Knesset List

The Likud party announced Tuesday that Talik Golel, mother of fallen Israel Border Police officer Res. Sgt. Maj. Rani Golel, will be placed in a reserved slot on the party's list for the 26th Knesset elections. Golel has become a prominent figure advocating for the families of hostages held in Gaza.

Rani Golel was killed on October 7 while fighting Hamas terrorists, despite being wounded. He is credited with saving numerous civilians before falling in battle, and his body was taken to Gaza. He was considered the last remaining hostage until his body was recovered by Israeli forces in Operation "Brave Heart." His family described him as someone who was "the first to go out and the last to return."

Talik Golel became a public advocate during the efforts to secure her son's return, raising awareness domestically and internationally. She highlighted his bravery, patriotism, and dedication to protecting citizens, demonstrating faith and determination throughout the ordeal. On Israel's Independence Day this year, she was chosen to light a ceremonial torch at Mount Herzl.

The Likud stated that Golel's personal story has become a public mission, representing values of strength, dedication, and commitment to Israel. Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar praised the decision, calling Golel a "true lioness" and expressing enthusiasm for her joining the Knesset.
