Shas Party Finalizes Knesset List with New Faces and Incumbents
The Shas party has finalized its list of candidates for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections, with the Council of Torah Sages approving the slate.
Party chairman Aryeh Deri will head the list, followed by incumbent Knesset members Yנון Azulai in second place and Michael Malchieli in third. Both Azulai and Malchieli have seen significant upward movement on the list compared to previous elections. Several other incumbent MKs will retain their positions, a decision made after deliberations by the Council of Torah Sages.
New additions to the list include Dror Amos, a lieutenant colonel in the reserves, who will be placed sixth. The party submitted its finalized list by the deadline on the same day.
This decision comes after discussions within the party and contrasts with the approach of the United Torah Judaism party, which recently removed MKs Gafni and Maklev from its list.
