Haredi Paper Denies Confidence Vote Ouster for MKs Gafni, Maklev
The official newspaper of the Degel HaTorah party, 'Degel HaTorah', has issued its first statement regarding the recent removal of Knesset Members Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev from their positions. The paper asserts that the move does not constitute a vote of no confidence.
According to the newspaper, Gafni and Maklev acted throughout their term in accordance with the directives of senior rabbinical leaders, consulting them on every decision. The paper emphasized that the MKs did "everything in their power to regulate the status of yeshiva students."
The removal of Gafni and Maklev is reportedly awaiting final approval from the 'Moetzet', the council of Torah Sages, which serves as the supreme religious authority for the party.
