Degel HaTorah Party Reshuffles Knesset List After Veteran Members Exit

The Degel HaTorah party has announced its new slate for the upcoming Knesset elections, following the decision not to include veteran lawmakers Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev. Yaakov Asher will lead the party's list, followed by Yitzhak Pindrus in the second position. Moshe Rosenthal is slated for third, and Yehuda Weissfish for fourth within Degel HaTorah's internal ranking.

However, the order on the joint list with the Agudat Yisrael party differs due to a "zig-zag" arrangement. Asher will be first on the joint list, Pindrus third, Rosenthal fifth, and Weissfish, fourth on Degel HaTorah's list, will be seventh overall.

This shake-up comes as part of a broader renewal initiative within the party. Gafni, a Knesset member for decades, has been asked to continue as chairman of the national Degel HaTorah movement, while Asher is expected to head the party's representation in the Knesset. The new lineup signifies a notable shift in the leadership of the Lithuanian ultra-Orthodox political faction, introducing Rosenthal and Weissfish to the top ranks alongside the established Asher and Pindrus.
