Masked Fans Storm Training Ground, Confront Beitar Jerusalem Players

Twenty masked fans breached the training complex of the Beitar Jerusalem soccer club on Saturday evening to protest the team's recent performance. The fans expressed their deep disappointment, particularly following a loss to rival Hapoel Tel Aviv, stating that the "Beitar Jerusalem jersey is not just any jersey" and that they "don't sleep at night" after being "humiliated at Bloomfield Stadium." They warned that another loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv would result in similar future protests.

During the confrontation, which was reportedly permitted entry by coach Almog Cohen, the fans directly addressed the players. They claimed to know which players were not maintaining professionalism and were seen "going out to party" before the game, asserting that such behavior would not be tolerated. Coach Cohen reportedly took responsibility, telling the fans, "I am first and foremost to blame. It's all on me, not on the players."

Owner Barak Abramov acknowledged the fans' sentiments, understanding that the supporters expect much more from the team. With Beitar Jerusalem yet to earn points in their last two league matches, the team faces another challenge on Monday against Bnei Sakhnin at Doha Stadium. Coach Cohen appears poised to make significant changes to the lineup, potentially including Liel Deri replacing the suspended Luka Gadriani, and Sean Weissman and Tomer Yosefi in contention for starting spots. Nana Antwi is unlikely to be fit for the match, while Timothy Muzizi is expected to continue as the left-back.
