Border Police Officer Shot Dead by Police in Netanya

A Border Police officer on active duty, identified as 20-year-old David Hoeyer Amrani, was neutralized by police forces in Netanya on Saturday after he allegedly opened fire on them. His death was confirmed shortly after the incident. The shooting occurred in the Kiryat HaSharon area of the city. Large police forces secured the scene, and no injuries were reported among the officers. The commander of the Central District, Superintendent Amir Cohen, was en route to the location. The motives behind Amrani's actions are currently unknown and under investigation.

In a separate incident, an indictment is expected to be filed against a resident of Jaffa in his 30s, suspected of firing a weapon in the city approximately two weeks prior. On August 18, police received reports of gunfire in Jaffa. Officers responding to the scene spotted the suspect, who attempted to flee but was apprehended. A loaded handgun was found on him. He was taken for questioning, jailed, and his detention has been extended. Following the establishment of a evidentiary basis, a statement of charges was filed on Sunday, with prosecutors intending to file an indictment in the coming days. No one was injured in the Jaffa shooting.
