Armed Man Killed by Police in Netanya After Opening Fire

The death of an armed man who opened fire on a police force in the Kiryat Sharon neighborhood of Netanya has been confirmed. The individual, identified as a member of the security forces, was reportedly suffering from combat stress, according to preliminary assessments. No one else was harmed in the incident.

The man was neutralized by police officers and combatants after he began shooting at them in the area on Saturday evening. He was evacuated in critical condition to a hospital, where his death was later pronounced. Initial assessments suggest he was experiencing combat stress.

Footage from before the shooting shows the man, dressed in civilian clothes and carrying a long weapon, walking down the street. Additional footage depicted police forces arriving at the scene and donning protective vests.

Large police forces from the Central District operated in and around the area following the shooting. The commander of the Central District arrived at the scene and conducted a situation assessment. The commander of the Netanya station stated that the incident was over and that police were in the early stages of investigating its circumstances, aiming to clarify the sequence of events and the motive for the shooting.
