Water Supply Stable After Desalination Plant Glitch, Officials Assure Public

Israeli authorities have reassured the public that the country's drinking water supply is secure following a temporary malfunction at desalination plants. The Ministry of Energy and the Water Authority issued an urgent statement ahead of the weekend, confirming that the situation has been fully stabilized and no disruptions to water provision are expected. Both the civilian population and the agricultural sector will continue to receive water without any limitations.

Stability was achieved through rapid adjustments to the desalination plants' operations, alongside increased water pumping from the Sea of Galilee and numerous wells nationwide. "Mekorot," the national water company, plans to replenish reservoirs over the weekend, when consumption typically decreases, to ensure uninterrupted service for the upcoming week.

Officials emphasized that tap water remains safe for drinking and domestic use. The desalination process utilized approved substances under the supervision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health, posing no danger to swimmers. Environmental monitoring is ongoing. A precautionary fishing ban was imposed in the affected processing zone, though fish available in markets are deemed completely safe.
