Israel Captures Ali Taher Ridge in Southern Lebanon, Defense Minister Says

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that the capture of the Ali Taher Ridge in southern Lebanon marks a significant step in solidifying Israel's control over the security zone north of the border. Gallant stated that the operation on the ridge followed a maneuver towards the 'Blue Line' (the border demarcation), the capture of the Beaufort area, and the establishment of IDF forces on commanding ridges. According to the defense establishment, these actions provide an additional layer of protection for communities in eastern Galilee.

The decision to advance on Ali Taher was driven by intelligence indicating the presence of a tunnel system used by Hezbollah for command, control, and operational direction. Gallant asserted that this underground complex served as a command center for directing operations against IDF forces and the Galilee region. He also noted that the ridge was a crucial control point for Hezbollah in defending the Nabatieh area, which holds strategic importance for the organization.
