Israel's Defense Minister Hails Capture of Ali Taher Ridge in Lebanon

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Friday the completion of operations to clear the Ali Taher Ridge in southern Lebanon, describing it as a significant step towards achieving Israel's objectives.

Katz stated that the capture of the ridge, which overlooks eastern Galilee, is part of Israel's efforts to establish control over the security zone in southern Lebanon. He emphasized that Israel will not withdraw from this zone until Hezbollah is disarmed and threats to the residents of Galilee are eliminated. "The capture of Ali Taher is an important step in achieving the goal," Katz said.

According to Katz, the decision to advance on Ali Taher Ridge followed intelligence indicating the presence of Hezbollah command and control tunnels in the area. He explained that these tunnels served as a central command for attacks on Israeli forces and the Galilee region, and also as a crucial defensive position for Hezbollah overlooking the Nabatieh area.

The defense minister commended the IDF's performance in challenging terrain, highlighting the forces' commitment and bravery. He noted that a heavy blackout was imposed on the operation's details to ensure the safety of the troops. Katz concluded by stating that the IDF has completed the neutralization of the tunnels and will implement tactical measures to maintain control of the ridge and prevent the enemy from re-establishing a presence there.
