Israeli Military Completes Operation Against Hezbollah Infrastructure in Lebanon

The Israeli military announced on Thursday the completion of its operation to clear underground infrastructure on the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, stating it has gained operational control above and below ground. According to the IDF, some Hezbollah operatives were killed during the operation, while others fled. The military stated that the cleared infrastructure included command centers, weapons storage rooms, generator rooms, and living quarters, which had been developed over two decades with funding and design from Iran.

The operation, part of broader efforts to dismantle Hezbollah's capabilities, involved ambushes, tunnel shaft attacks, and drone strikes. The IDF asserted that Hezbollah's Badr unit built these facilities, which were used to manage rocket fire, combat IDF forces, and carry out attacks against Israeli civilians. The military also noted that Hezbollah operatives had continuously used the ridge during previous Israeli operations, including "Arrow of the North" and "Roar of the Lion."

The IDF stated its forces continue to operate in southern Lebanon to clear the security zone and prevent Hezbollah from launching terror attacks, vowing a strong response to any Hezbollah actions. The military reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.

Earlier, Iran had warned the United States of a forceful response to any Israeli attack on the Ali Taher ridge, where Iranian military personnel are reportedly present alongside Hezbollah operatives. This message, conveyed to the U.S. last month, underscores Iran's direct involvement and willingness to retaliate against Israeli strikes in the area. While the exact definition of a "comprehensive Israeli attack" by Iran remains unclear, Israel has continued its operations in the region. The IDF, however, maintains that there are no Iranian forces in the area, despite reports of their presence.
