84-Year-Old Man Killed in Rehovot Stabbing, Son Arrested After Calling MDA
A suspected murder in Rehovot on Tuesday afternoon left an 84-year-old man dead after his son allegedly stabbed him in their apartment. Shortly after the attack, the son called MDA and said he had stabbed his father. He later also called police and reported that he had killed him.
According to the report, the suspect left the father lying in a pool of blood, then walked toward his own nearby home. Police from the Rehovot station moved toward the son’s residence and arrested him there, while other officers reached the father’s apartment and found him dead. The victim’s wife, who is also the suspect’s mother, was not at home when the killing occurred. She and another son were summoned to police to be informed of the killing.
MDA said the emergency call about a stabbing on Pakiin Street in Rehovot arrived at 1:45 p.m. in the Ayalon region dispatch center. Paramedics and medics pronounced the elderly man dead at the scene. Police from the Central District said they arrested the suspect, a Rehovot resident in his 40s, and seized the knife allegedly used in the attack.
Roi Ben Shushan, a senior medic with MDA’s motorcycle unit, said crews arrived with police and found the man unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing. “We carried out medical checks, the injury was critical, and we had no choice but to pronounce him dead at the scene,” he said.
