80-Year-Old Man Dies in Rehovot Stabbing; Son Held as Suspect
A man in his 80s was found dead Tuesday morning on Peqi'in Street in Rehovot, in what police are treating as a suspected murder. The main suspect is his son, a Rehovot resident who lived with him in the same apartment.
Police said they received a report shortly before the discovery about a stabbing at an apartment in the city. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 80s with stab wounds and no signs of life. Medical teams pronounced him dead at the scene.
Patrol officers arrested the victim’s son, a man in his 40s, at the scene on suspicion of involvement in the killing. Police also seized a knife that they believe was used in the attack.
Roi Ben Shushan, a senior medic with Magen David Adom’s motorcycle unit, said paramedics reached the victim with police and found him unconscious, without a pulse or breathing. “His injury was critical and we had to declare him dead at the scene,” he said.
