Man Assaults Doctor Treating His Stabbed Son at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a doctor at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot. The incident occurred in the emergency room while medical staff were providing life-saving treatment to the man's son, who had been stabbed and rushed to the hospital. According to reports, the father arrived at the hospital and engaged in a verbal confrontation with the medical team. During the altercation, he slapped the doctor treating his son and pushed another female doctor involved in the care.

During the court hearing, it was revealed that the suspect has been an employee at Kaplan Hospital for over 20 years. His defense attorney requested his release, arguing that the assault was an intense emotional reaction to the severe circumstances his son was facing. The lawyer stated, "Anyone with children who found themselves in such a situation would act emotionally," and noted that no physical injuries were caused to the medical staff.

However, the court decided to extend the man's detention, citing his prior conviction in 2023 for violent offenses and property damage. The decision reflects concerns about the suspect's past behavior and the seriousness of the assault on hospital staff during a critical medical emergency.
