Car Plunges Into Store After Truck Collision in Kiryat Gat, Three Injured
Three people were injured, two lightly and one moderately, in a serious traffic accident in Kiryat Gat on Tuesday. The incident occurred when a truck collided with a private vehicle, pushing it through the storefront window of a shop on HaDrom Street. Two women who were inside the store sustained light injuries and were evacuated to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. The truck driver was taken to the hospital in moderate condition.
Magen David Adom paramedics arriving at the scene described the scene as unusual, with the car "literally inside the store" and the storefront shattered. They reported that miraculously, only two women were in the store at the time. "This incident could have ended in tragedy," said MDA medics Meir Avivi and Stav Botbol.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver lost control before hitting the private car and propelling it into the shop. A resident whose sister was in the store during the incident described it as a "miraculous escape," adding, "It's really scary, a second of inattention."
The police have opened a criminal investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
