Gal Gadot Explains Departure from Wonder Woman Role

Gal Gadot has revealed her reasons for stepping away from the Wonder Woman franchise, citing the "ungraceful" handling of other actors by DC Studios.

Gadot stated in a "Happy Sad Confused" podcast interview that DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran initially indicated a desire to develop a third Wonder Woman film with her. However, she expressed reservations after observing how the studio managed the departures of other actors, specifically mentioning Henry Cavill's exit from the Superman role.

"The situation with Henry was not handled elegantly, to say the least," Gadot commented, echoing sentiments previously expressed by Gunn himself about Cavill's situation being "unfortunate" and "unfair." She also noted that director Patty Jenkins, who helmed the previous Wonder Woman films, was not treated well regarding the cancellation of the third movie.

Despite the circumstances, Gadot expressed gratitude for her time as Wonder Woman, calling it the role that launched her Hollywood career. She acknowledged that even if offered a third film, her current life with four children and a busy schedule would make it difficult to commit to the extensive filming required.

In the interview, Gadot also discussed her concerns about artificial intelligence in filmmaking, particularly regarding her recent movie "The Runner." She detailed the extensive legal review required to protect her performance from AI influence, noting that her contract negotiations even provided guidance for SAG-AFTRA. While expressing fear of AI, Gadot emphasized the need for actors to engage with the technology, stating, "Either you work with it or you stay out of the game completely."
