Police Commanders Escort Fallen Officers' Children to School

Police commanders in Israel's Southern District escorted children of fallen police officers to school on Tuesday as the new academic year began. The district, stretching from Ashdod to Eilat, saw hundreds of police officers, combatants, and volunteers deployed to ensure security around educational institutions and main thoroughfares.

District Commander Superintendent-General Chaim Bublil, his deputy Superintendent-General Efi Shiman, and area commanders met with students, parents, and teaching staff, offering support to families. This initiative specifically included children entering first grade who lost their fathers during the October 7th attacks or while serving in the police force.

Superintendent-General Bublil stated, "The opening of the school year is a significant and exciting event for students, parents, and educational staff, and this year it carries special significance for the Israel Police family. Alongside the operational mission to ensure a safe and quiet opening of the school year, we are proudly and excitedly accompanying today the children of officers who fell heroically on October 7th and during their service in the police. It is our duty and our privilege to stand by the families and accompany them in these significant moments of their lives."

Police forces worked to manage traffic, identify and prevent threats, maintain public order, and respond quickly to any unusual events, with a particular focus on the areas surrounding schools and the routes leading to them.
