Police Commanders Accompany Children of Fallen Officers on First Day of School

On the first day of the academic year, police commanders in Israel's Southern District accompanied children of officers who fell in the line of duty, particularly those killed during the October 7th Hamas attacks. The initiative aimed to provide support to the families and honor the fallen officers.

Southern District Commander Superintendent-General Chaim Bublil personally escorted the son of Sergeant-Major Itamar Alus, who fell on October 7th, on what would have been his birthday. Bublil also attended the school of Alus's son in Ofakim. In another instance, Deputy Commissioner Amir Klein and Superintendent Efi Shiman accompanied Ofri and Lia Rahli Harosh to their school in Be'er Sheva. Their father, Sergeant-Major Eliyahu Michael Harosh, was killed defending Sderot police station on October 7th.

Other commanders also participated, including Brigadier-General Eliyahu Shamul, who escorted Hila, daughter of Sergeant-Major Adir Zuarz, killed in a service-related accident, to her school in Kiryat Gat. Brigadier-General Shashi Shlomo accompanied Talia, daughter of Sergeant-First Class Elik Pozdniakov, who fell fighting at the Nova music festival on October 7th, to her school in Dimona.

Commanders met with students, parents, and staff, emphasizing the police force's commitment to supporting the bereaved families. "It is our duty and our privilege to stand by the families and accompany them through the significant moments in their lives," stated Superintendent-General Bublil. He added that the Southern District police would continue to act with determination and professionalism for public safety.

The presence of the commanders served as a reminder that the police family stands with the children who lost their fathers, offering support in place of their absent parent on this important day.
