Bluebird Airways Launches Direct Flights from Tel Aviv to Bologna
Greek airline Bluebird Airways, which is Israeli-owned, is expanding its operations in Italy by launching a new direct flight route between Tel Aviv and Bologna, Italy. This service, set to commence on September 2, 2026, will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Ticket prices will start at 128 euros one-way, excluding baggage and seat selection.
This new route adds to Bluebird's existing flights to Italy from Tel Aviv, which already include destinations like Rome, Milan, Venice, Naples, and Verona. Italy has become a highly popular destination for Israeli travelers, ranking as the third most visited country by Israelis in July, with 180,000 passengers, following Greece and Cyprus. In July, Italy accounted for 7.84% of all passengers departing from Ben Gurion Airport, an increase from 5.8% in July of the previous year.
A company statement highlighted the significance of the Bologna route, especially given the sustained high demand for direct flights to Italy. The airline plans further expansion, with Rome and Naples routes to be added starting September 17, creating a comprehensive network of direct Italian destinations for Israeli travelers by the fall and winter of 2026-2027.
