Blue Bird Airways Launches New Direct Flights From Tel Aviv to Bologna

Greek airline Blue Bird Airways has announced the launch of a new direct flight route from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport to Bologna, Italy. The service will commence on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with three weekly flights scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Ticket prices will start at 128 euros one-way.

Blue Bird will be the sole carrier operating direct flights on this route, following a previous service by Ryanair. This new route expands the airline's existing operations in Italy, which currently include flights to Bergamo and Milan.

Further expansion is planned for September 17, when Blue Bird intends to introduce direct flights from Tel Aviv to Rome and Naples. The company stated that the Bologna route is significant for Israeli travelers, especially given the high demand for direct flights to Italy. They highlighted Bologna's appeal not only as a destination but also as a gateway to northern Italy.

Bologna, the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, is recognized as a major culinary and cultural hub in Italy. It serves as a convenient entry point for exploring northern Italy, including Tuscany, Florence, the Dolomites, and Portofino, the latter having gained popularity recently due to the high-profile wedding of singer Omer Adam.
