Water Supply Disruptions Hit Jerusalem Neighborhoods Due to Desalination Plant Halts

Water supply disruptions have begun in several Jerusalem neighborhoods, including the Bucharim, Geula, Ramot Eshkol, and Mea Shearim areas, as of Monday afternoon. The interruptions are a direct consequence of a temporary halt in the operations of some desalination plants across Israel, as announced by the Water Authority.

The Mekorot water corporation is working to provide alternative water supplies and has set up public water taps in the affected neighborhoods. Mekorot employees and the Jerusalem Municipality have been coordinating with relevant water sector professionals since Monday morning.

Residents are urged to reduce non-essential water consumption, such as filling private pools and watering gardens, until the situation is resolved. The cause for the desalination plant shutdown was not immediately specified.
