Host Named for October 7th Remembrance Ceremony

Host Eli Sharabi, a survivor of the Hamas captivity, and actress Shani Cohen will lead the upcoming October 7th remembrance ceremony organized by the "Komu" movement and families of the victims. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 7th, at Park Hayarkon in Tel Aviv, marking the third year of its observance.

The organizers stated the ceremony aims to be unifying and inclusive, providing a voice for all segments of the population and communities affected by the October 7th attacks. Sharabi, who lost his wife, daughters, and brother in the attacks, expressed his commitment to ensuring the events of that day are never forgotten. "October 7th must remain etched in our hearts as an iron date forever," he stated, emphasizing the need for a significant national ceremony to honor the victims and their families.

Sharabi added that he would stand at the event with all the strength and love he receives from the public to honor the murdered, the fallen, the bereaved families, and the entire Israeli nation. He will be joined by actress Shani Cohen, who has supported many families grieving their losses since the attacks. Cohen expressed pride in co-hosting the ceremony with Sharabi, calling him a symbol of choosing life despite his ordeal.

Omri Saprani, who lost four family members in the Kibbutz Be'eri massacre and is one of the ceremony's organizers, praised the choice of hosts. He described Sharabi as someone who "chose life after the worst possible," and Cohen as a symbol of "Israeliness." Saprani believes they are the most suitable to lead the ceremony, which he said will tell the story of the families and all of Israeli society, expressing both pain and a shared responsibility and hope for Israel.
