Host Named for National October 7th Remembrance Ceremony

Hostage survivor Eli Sharabi and actress Shani Cohen will lead this year's national remembrance ceremony for the October 7th victims and their families. The event is scheduled to take place at Park Hayarkon on Wednesday, October 7th, marking three years since the Hamas attack.

The ceremony, which will feature numerous artists, is expected to be broadcast by major Israeli media outlets, foreign networks, and community screenings worldwide. Similar to previous years, the families are seeking public support through a crowdfunding campaign to fund the open-park event, which aims to accommodate tens of thousands of Israelis.

Sharabi, who was held captive, expressed his deep emotion about hosting the ceremony. He stated his commitment to honoring the memory of his wife Lian, daughters Noa and Yahel, and brother Yossi, all of whom were killed. "October 7th must remain etched in our hearts forever as an iron date," Sharabi said, emphasizing the importance of remembering the event and ensuring a significant national ceremony. He acknowledged the profound pain that still affects everyone and anticipates a difficult, emotionally charged occasion, but pledged to draw strength from public support to honor the fallen and the nation.

Cohen shared her feelings about the significance of October 7th in everyone's lives. Having supported many families and individuals through their grief, she expressed pride in co-hosting the ceremony with Sharabi, whom she described as someone who "chose life despite everything he went through." She highlighted the strength found in overcoming immense hardship and supporting others.
