Host Chosen for National October 7th Remembrance Ceremony

Eli Sharabi, a survivor of the October 7th Hamas attack and captivity, and actress Shani Cohen will co-host the upcoming national remembrance ceremony for the October 7th massacre. The event, organized by the "Komo" movement and families of October 7th victims, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv. This marks the third consecutive year for the national memorial ceremony, which has become the central event for bereaved families to commemorate the day of the attack.

The ceremony will be broadcast by major Israeli media outlets, foreign broadcasters, and through community screenings worldwide, mirroring the format of the previous two years. Organizers emphasized their commitment to a unifying, state-sponsored event that represents all segments of society and communities affected by the massacre.

Sharabi, who lost his wife, daughters, and brother in the attack, stated his commitment to ensuring the victims are never forgotten. "October 7th must remain etched in our hearts as an iron date forever," he declared, stressing the importance of a significant national ceremony to prevent the event from being forgotten or trivialized over time.

Cohen, who has supported many bereaved families since the attack, expressed pride in co-hosting alongside Sharabi. She highlighted the strength found in overcoming immense hardship and supporting others. Omri Shaproni, who lost four family members in the Kibbutz Be'eri massacre and is one of the ceremony's organizers, praised the hosts as the most fitting individuals to convey the story of the families and Israeli society.

The families are also appealing to the public for continued support of a crowdfunding campaign to ensure the ceremony can be held in an open-park format for tens of thousands of Israelis. Details regarding the ceremony's start time and participating artists are expected to be released soon.
