7 October Remembrance Ceremony to be Hosted by Hamas Hostage Survivor and Actress

Eli Sharabi, a survivor of Hamas captivity, and actress Shani Cohen will co-host the national remembrance ceremony for the October 7th massacre. The event, organized by the "Komo" movement and families of October 7th victims, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Park Hayarkon in Tel Aviv. This marks the third consecutive year for the national memorial ceremony, which has become the central event for bereaved families.

The families are urging public support for a crowdfunding campaign to ensure the ceremony can be held in an open park format for tens of thousands of Israelis. Similar to previous years, the ceremony will be broadcast by major Israeli media outlets, foreign networks, and through community screenings worldwide. Organizers emphasized their commitment to a unifying, national event representing all segments of society and communities affected by the attack.

Sharabi, who lost his wife, daughters, and brother in the attack, expressed his emotion at hosting, vowing to honor their memory. He stated, "October 7 must remain etched in our hearts as an iron date forever. It must not be blurred, and time must not make us forget. This terrible day must not pass without a national, central, and significant ceremony."

Cohen, who has supported many bereaved families, shared her pride in co-hosting with Sharabi, calling him an inspiration for choosing life despite his trauma. She highlighted the collective strength to overcome immense hardship and support others.

Omri Shifroni, who lost four family members in the Kibbutz Be'eri massacre and is one of the ceremony's organizers, expressed his excitement about the hosts, believing they are the most fitting to convey the story of the families and Israeli society.
