Singer Yehuda Poliker Talks Down Suicidal Youth in Tel Aviv

A 20-year-old man who threatened to jump from a building under construction in Tel Aviv on Tuesday night, August 25, was eventually persuaded to come down after speaking with his idol, singer Yehuda Poliker.

The young man had climbed onto the roof of the building on Remez Street in Tel Aviv late at night and refused to descend, demanding to speak with Poliker. For about an hour, negotiators attempted to resolve the situation, with the man repeatedly requesting to speak to the singer.

Eventually, contact was made with Poliker himself. The singer agreed to speak with the distressed 20-year-old over the phone for several minutes. During the conversation, Poliker attempted to calm the man and invited him to attend one of his upcoming concerts.

Shortly after the call concluded, the young man descended from the building, and the incident ended without any injuries. The brief phone conversation with the singer he admired proved to be the turning point, leading to the peaceful resolution of the tense hour-long standoff on the Tel Aviv street.
