Singer Yehuda Poliker Called to Prevent Suicide Attempt in Tel Aviv

A man threatening to jump from a Tel Aviv building rooftop was convinced to come down after a late-night phone call with Israeli singer Yehuda Poliker. Police were called to the scene on Remez Street in the city over the weekend after the man ascended the building and threatened to end his life. Large police forces, including negotiators from the Yarkon district, arrived to secure the area and attempt to communicate with the individual.

During negotiations, the man revealed his sole condition for not jumping: he would only speak with Yehuda Poliker. Initially uncertain if the demand was genuine, police quickly realized it might be the only way to resolve the situation peacefully. Within minutes, officers were dispatched to Poliker's home in the late hours of the night.

Poliker, who was asleep, was awakened and surprised by the unusual request from the police. He then engaged in a brief phone conversation with the man, the details of which cannot be published for privacy reasons. During the call, Poliker successfully persuaded the man to descend from the roof, thereby averting a tragedy.

A police source involved in the incident described it as the strangest event of their career, stating, "We have never experienced such a bizarre incident in all my years." The source added, "This was a bizarre event, but we took it with the utmost seriousness. Everything happened quickly due to the urgency of the matter. The neighbors were frightened, and it was clear this was a serious threat. We understood it was a matter of life and death, and we thank Yehuda Poliker for responding to our requests in those dramatic moments."
