Israeli Meteorological Service Warns of Severe Summer Rainstorm With Flood Risks

The Israeli Meteorological Service issued a special warning about a significant summer rainstorm expected to hit the region starting Saturday night, particularly during the hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The storm is expected to be highly localized, meaning its impact will vary across different parts of the country, with some areas, including parts of the coastal plain, potentially receiving no rain at all.

Updated weather models predict heavy rainfall amounts ranging from 40 to 60 millimeters within a short period of one to three hours during the night. The areas most at risk for intense rainfall and flooding include the coastal region from Mount Carmel through Emek Hefer down to the Hadera-Netanya line. Additional rain is expected in northern coastal plain areas and further south in Sharon, Gush Dan, and the Shfela region.

The Meteorological Service emphasized that the heaviest rainfall will concentrate between Netanya and Mount Carmel and urged the public and local authorities in these zones to remain vigilant. The Israel Police also issued a public statement regarding the extreme weather event, highlighting the flood risks in the identified high-risk areas.
