Two Women Treated for Snake Bites in Central Israel, One in Serious Condition

On Wednesday morning, a 48-year-old woman was bitten by a snake on Makhon Volcani Street in Rishon LeZion. Paramedics from Magen David Adom (MDA) provided medical treatment at the scene and transported her to Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) with a serious but stable condition. The bite marks were on her lower limbs. Paramedic Tehila Cohen reported that the woman was conscious and received medication before being taken to the hospital.

At the same time, a 26-year-old woman from Majd al-Krum was admitted to the Galilee Medical Center after a snake bite near her home. She was evaluated, treated, and admitted to the general intensive care unit in a mild and stable condition, fully conscious. Dr. Khaled Atalla, head of the emergency department at the Galilee Medical Center, emphasized the increased activity of venomous reptiles during this season and advised on proper response measures.

He recommended calming the victim, ensuring complete rest, and minimizing movement of the bitten limb to slow venom spread. Immediate hospital transfer is crucial. If possible, photographing the snake from a safe distance can help with identification. He warned against cutting the bite site, sucking out venom, applying tourniquets, or attempting to catch the snake, as these actions endanger both the victim and others.
