שר לביטחון לאומי, איתמר בן גביר, קרא להוציא להורג את המחבל שנעצר בפיגוע סמוך ליישוב נווה צוף. בן גביר התייחס לחוק עונש מוות למחבלים, אותו קידמה סיעתו "עוצמה יהודית", וטען כי זהו המקרה הראשון בו ניתן ליישם אותו. "החוק הוא החוק, אנחנו העברנו אותו, הוא מאפשר להרוג מחבל, וזו הזדמנות ליישם אותו. עכשיו, הוצאה להורג", אמר השר. הוא הדגיש כי במקרה זה עונש מוות הוא עונש מחייב על פי החוק.
