Israeli Minister Demands Death Penalty for Terror Suspect

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on Sunday called for the execution of the Palestinian suspect in a deadly shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin region of the West Bank. Ben Gvir stated on social media platform X that this case meets the criteria for the death penalty law for terrorists, which was initiated by his Otzma Yehudit party. He argued that the suspect's arrest alive makes the application of this sentence mandatory.

"We demand the application of this law and the execution of the cursed terrorist who perpetrated the Binyamin attack," Ben Gvir added. The attack occurred Sunday morning when the suspect allegedly opened fire at the Ein Raya spring near Neve Tzuf, killing Netanel Shakron, a resident of Alei Zahav and father of six. Shakron was at the site with his eldest son for a ritual immersion ahead of Yom Kippur.

Following the shooting, the assailant reportedly abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. After several hours, soldiers from the Duvdevan unit tracked down and apprehended the suspect in a Ramallah hospital where he had sought refuge.
