Terrorist Captured After Deadly Attack Faces First Death Penalty Law Application

The terrorist apprehended following a shooting attack in the Benjamin region on Sunday is the first individual subject to the death penalty law passed during the current government's term, at the demand of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The assailant was captured by Duvdevan unit fighters while wounded and being treated at a hospital in Ramallah.

Minister Ben-Gvir is now calling for the law to be applied to the terrorist, demanding his execution. "We demand to activate the death penalty law for terrorists that Otzma Yehudit passed, and to implement the execution of the terrorist in the Benjamin attack," Ben-Gvir stated. He emphasized that this is the first instance where the law can be practically implemented, calling it a "mandatory sentence" in this case.

Ben-Gvir concluded by urging the immediate enforcement of the law, stating, "This law is a law, this is the law we passed, this is the law that allows the execution of the terrorist, and this is the opportunity. Now, execution."
