Palestinian Police Detain Israeli Reservist in Ramallah, Sparking Protest in West Bank Village

Residents of the Gush Dolav-Talmonim area held a protest in the West Bank village of Ein Qiniya following the violent arrest of an Israeli reservist by Palestinian police in Ramallah. The incident occurred during a nighttime drive from Dolav toward Route 433, near the Beitunia junction, when the reservist, Shlomo Rozental, encountered Palestinian officers whom he initially mistook for Israeli police. The officers demanded he surrender his weapon; upon refusal, they assaulted him with pepper spray, kicks, and blows, confiscated his weapon, handcuffed him, and transported him to a police facility in Ramallah. Rozental described the ordeal as a kidnapping and beating, stating, "I was not released, I was beaten and abducted to Ramallah."

Following the incident, Palestinian police coordinated with Israeli liaison authorities and transferred Rozental to the IDF. He was then taken to the Modiin Illit police station, where he attempted to file a complaint but reportedly faced a hostile reception due to his presence in the area. In response to the arrest, residents organized a march and evening prayer in Ein Qiniya. When police detained vehicles of the protest participants, they continued on foot to the demonstration site.
