Palestinian Authority Police Detain Israeli Reservist and Seize Weapon in West Bank's Area C

Palestinian Authority police arrested an Israeli reservist soldier overnight while he was traveling on the bypass road near Beitunia in western Binyamin, heading towards the Gush Dolav-Talmonim area. During the incident, which took place in Area C where Palestinian forces are prohibited from entering, the soldier's military weapon was confiscated. The soldier was unharmed.

The Binyamin Regional Council condemned the incident and criticized the Israeli Civil Administration for blaming the soldier for traveling in a dangerous area instead of addressing the unauthorized actions of the Palestinian police. The council demanded that Israeli security forces take responsibility and secure the transportation routes for settlements.

Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, stated that the event demonstrates the Oslo Accords have become meaningless. He condemned the Palestinian police's actions as a violation of agreements and criticized Israel for blaming the Israeli soldier. Gantz called for recognition of the current reality, the cancellation of the Oslo Accords, freedom of movement throughout Judea and Samaria, and the establishment of a secure route between Gush Dolav-Talmonim and Highway 443.
