Israel Detects Another Gaza Kite Incursion as Officials Call for Clear Policy

On Monday afternoon, another kite was found in Nahal Oz, within the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council near the Gaza border, following four similar incidents over the weekend involving kites crossing from the Gaza Strip. Uri Epstein, head of the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, stated this pattern "strengthens the understanding that this is not an isolated event." He criticized Israel's current approach, saying Hamas is regaining strength while Israel is reverting to a policy of containment and reactive measures rather than proactive initiatives. Epstein demanded a clear and unequivocal Israeli policy that any object crossing from Gaza into Israeli territory must be identified and addressed immediately, not only after it lands in Israeli communities.

Yesterday, after a security assessment with Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and senior defense officials, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, "We will not return to the reality before October 7. Israel will not allow Hamas or any other group in Gaza to threaten our communities or undermine our citizens' sense of security." He warned Hamas that if the launches toward Israel do not cease immediately, the IDF will intensify targeted operations against those responsible and evacuate populations from areas used for launching kites, drones, and balloons.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant instructed the IDF to "act decisively" against kite launches, emphasizing the need for all necessary measures, including targeting Hamas leaders responsible for the launches, evacuating neighborhoods from which launches occur, and dismantling terror infrastructure. Gallant stressed that every launch is considered an act of war and that anyone organizing, launching, or enabling these attacks will be dealt with swiftly and severely.
