Israeli Defense Minister Orders Immediate Action Against Gaza Balloon and Drone Attacks

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to take strong and immediate measures against the launching of balloons, kites, and drones from the Gaza Strip toward communities in the western Negev and surrounding areas. This directive comes amid ongoing attempts by terrorist organizations in Gaza to renew aerial attacks, which the Israeli security establishment views as efforts to test military readiness and threaten civilian safety.

Under Katz's orders, the IDF will implement targeted operations against Hamas leaders and militants responsible for these launches, evacuate neighborhoods and launch zones in Gaza, and conduct aggressive actions against terror infrastructure. Katz emphasized that Israel will not tolerate disruptions to the daily lives of southern residents and regards every aerial attack, whether by balloon, kite, or drone, as a hostile act warranting a firm response.

The Defense Minister made clear that there will be no return to the security situation prior to October 7, and anyone involved in organizing or facilitating these attacks will face immediate and severe consequences. Recently, another kite was detected over Kibbutz Kfar Aza, following reports of multiple kites crossing from Gaza over the weekend. Residents in the area have warned that some kites carry long strings, raising concerns that Hamas may be testing flight paths similar to Hezbollah's tactics.

The security establishment continues to monitor the situation closely, maintaining a stance of zero tolerance toward these aerial threats and preparing to respond decisively to any escalation.
