Defense Minister Israel Katz Orders Strong Action Against Gaza Balloon and Drone Attacks

Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Sunday that he has instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to take strong measures against the renewed wave of incendiary balloons, kites, and drones launched from Gaza towards Israeli communities near the border. This directive follows a series of recent attacks targeting settlements in the Gaza envelope region.

Katz emphasized that the IDF is authorized to use all necessary means to prevent these attacks, including targeting Hamas leaders responsible for organizing and executing the launches, evacuating neighborhoods and areas used for launching, and dismantling the terror infrastructure in Gaza. He stressed that every launch is considered an act of war and that the defense of Israeli communities is paramount.

Responding to criticism, Katz stated, "It's fortunate they have no real impact," underscoring the government's commitment to preventing a return to the situation before October 7. He declared that anyone involved in organizing, launching, or enabling these attacks will face immediate and severe consequences. Katz equated the threat posed by balloons, kites, and drones, whether carrying explosives or not, affirming zero tolerance for these actions.
