Arab-Israeli Advocacy Leader Youssef Haddad Steps Down Ahead of Political Merger Talks

Youssef Haddad, a prominent Arab-Israeli advocacy activist, announced on Sunday his resignation as CEO of the nonprofit "Together Arabs for Each Other," which he co-founded over eight years ago. Haddad's departure comes amid reports that he is in discussions to join the political party of Israeli lawmaker Ofer Winter, just two days before the party's expected launch.

Haddad explained that the organization was created to promote genuine integration and partnership within Israeli Arab society, emphasizing pride in being both Arab and Israeli. Despite initial skepticism about the group's longevity, it has grown to include hundreds of active members, thousands of registered supporters, and tens of thousands of sympathizers.

Under Haddad's leadership, the organization conducted international advocacy missions, organized pro-Israel demonstrations outside the White House, the UN, and European capitals, and initiated projects to make Holocaust remembrance accessible to Arab communities, including Arabic-language events and delegations to Poland. The group remained active during critical periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Operation Guardian of the Walls, and since October 7.

Haddad highlighted that all activists, including himself, volunteered without pay and that the organization has broken down many barriers and challenged prejudices by voicing a proud and determined Arab-Israeli perspective. He described the nonprofit as a historic and personal milestone and expressed confidence in his successor, Lorina Hatib, who will continue to lead the organization’s growth and social impact.

Haddad concluded by stating he is stepping down to pursue new goals but assured that the organization remains in capable hands and will continue to drive important social change in Israel.
