Maccabi Tel Aviv Parts Ways with Henry Edu, Who Joins Portuguese Club Tondela
Maccabi Tel Aviv has announced the departure of Ghanaian forward Henry Edu, who will transfer to Tondela, a club in Portugal's second division. Edu, 23, joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in February 2024 from Slovakian club Žilina and has made 31 appearances with three goals for the Israeli club. During his tenure, he contributed to winning two league titles, the Toto Cup, and the Super Cup.
Last season, Edu was loaned to OFK Belgrade in Serbia, where he played 16 matches and scored two goals. In the 2024/2025 season, he participated in Maccabi Tel Aviv's UEFA Europa League campaign, appearing 11 times and scoring twice. The transfer to Tondela was finalized after his loan period ended, allowing Maccabi Tel Aviv to free up a foreign player slot for new signings ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
