Maccabi Tel Aviv Sells Henry Edu to Portuguese Second Division Club Tondela
Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced the sale of 23-year-old Ghanaian winger Henry Edu to Tondela, a club in Portugal's second division. Edu, who struggled to establish himself at Maccabi, will join Tondela following an agreement between the two clubs.
Edu joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in February 2024 from Žilina and made 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals. Last season, he was loaned to OFK Belgrade, where he played 16 matches and scored twice. His transfer to Tondela marks the end of his two-and-a-half-year stint with Maccabi, during which he failed to become a key player.
The move offers Edu a fresh start and the chance for more playing time. For Maccabi Tel Aviv, his departure is significant as it opens a foreign player slot, potentially allowing them to sign another international player. One notable target is Thibault Batin, a winger from Go Ahead Eagles. The club still needs to resolve its foreign player quota issues in the squad.
